Breaking in tall leather boots. Lifts should be worn inside the heel of the boots to help reduce the wrinkling at the ankle as well as make the boot more comfortable at the back of the knee. Brand new boots should be about 1 1/4" too tall (depending on the calf shape and height). The boots should fit comfortably accross the ball of the foot and be fairly sloppy in the heel and ankle. Breaking in tall leather boots. Lifts should be worn inside the heel of the boots to help reduce the wrinkling at the ankle as well as make the boot more comfortable at the back of the knee. Brand new boots should be about 1 1/4" too tall (depending on the calf shape and height). The boots should fit comfortably accross the ball of the foot and be fairly sloppy in the heel and ankle.
